Alex Griffiths
Alex has been researching her tree for over four years. She became interested when looking through an old photo album that belonged to her father. From countless times of looking at the album as a child she finally asked who the people were and it all sparked from there. Intrigued by her great grandmother on her maternal grandmothers side - Alex has begun a One Name Study on the surname Pilley and has been working on compiling data to aid her research. She currently has a database containing every Pilley birth, marriage and death registered between 1837 - 2005 and every entry from Pallots Marriage Index and Boyds and hopes to continue gathering information for her study.
Alex has not only been researching her own family tree, but also that of her partner. They have a combined tree with over 5000 names on so far with many lines going back to the 1500s and one even dates back to the 11th Century with connections to Acton Burnell - the site of the first official 'Parliament' and to the Bent(h)all family of Benthall Hall, Much Wenlock - Shrophire - which in turn has connections to the Bentall family who created the famous Goldhanger Plough and ran the Bentall's Ironworks in Essex. Alex's tree has connections mainly in Lancashire, Essex and North Wales but with an elusive branch in Ireland too! Her partners tree spans the country including Scotland, Lincolnshire, London, Norfolk, Suffolk and Cornwall aswell as connections in India and Australia.
Alex also enjoys helping others with their research and often helps family friends sometimes researching for them or giving advice and pointing people in the right direction. She has sold her services via eBay in the past but has decided to offer them to a wider audience. Alex also has experience in researching for people from overseas and those unable to get to local records offices and tracing family for adoptees.
